A helpful view to look at failures

Often it happens that if a project is succeeded, the project sponsor takes the credit but if it fails, the team takes the blame.

How the organization treats the failure has a great impact on building the organization culture – and the sense of ownership that every employee will have.

If the failure is an event for someone to be blamed, either publicly or privately, then it creates dysfunction in the team.

But if a failure is a learning event and inputs to the common feedback system for performance improvement, it boosts the team morale.

Think like this: if you haven’t succeeded, it is not over. So, failure is an event to take constructive feedback from, not an event to initiate an infinite loop of the blame game.
