ABOUT UTPAL VAISHNAV (UV).

About

I am Utpal Vaishnav. Everyone calls me UV.

In the early years, clients outside India could not pronounce “Utpal Vaishnav” on a call. I shortened it to UV as a fix. The name stayed. The fix became the brand.

I architect capital, technology, and ventures that compound. That is not a tagline. It is the actual job description.

I. THE SHIFT

For twenty-five years I worked inside execution. I wrote code. I built teams. I closed deals. I fixed what broke, whatever time it broke.

That version of me still exists. It did not disappear. It compounded into something else.

Today I do not operate the machine. I design it.

I allocate capital, attention, and time across a portfolio of systems, and I hold the frame that keeps them coherent. The work moved from doing to deciding. From hours worked to leverage built.

A Renter waits for permission and evaluates other people’s work from the sidelines. An Architect builds the structure and owns what it produces. I chose Architect a long time ago. I renew that choice every quarter, not once.

II. THE RECORD

Frameworks without a track record are opinions with better formatting. So here is the record, plainly.

I scaled Upsquare from two co-founders into a 200-plus person delivery engine operating across six countries. In 2017 I exited a business I built, at a multi-million dollar outcome. In 2022 I acquired a SaaS telephony company, also multi-million dollar in scale, and folded it into the operating stack.

Since 2017 I have also invested as an angel and LP, 22-plus positions across technology sectors, with exits of my own inside that portfolio.

None of these events made me who I am. Each one tested whether the systems I had built could survive contact with real stakes, real capital, and real consequences. They held.

I do not open with these numbers for validation. I open with them because a claim without a number is a story, and I would rather you judge the structure than the story.

III. THE STACK

Everything I build sits inside one structure, not a scattered portfolio of side projects. Fragmented operations are a Renter’s problem. My focus is the opposite: structural synchronization across four nodes.

EightQor Group is the parent brand. I am its Founder and Chairman. Four nodes report into it.

Capital. EightQor Capital handles private equity and strategic asset allocation for technology businesses across India and the GCC.

Tech. Upsquare is the engineering and technology builder inside EightQor. Thirteen years running the group’s delivery engine, scaled from two co-founders to two hundred people across six countries. Today it builds the software, AI, and systems infrastructure the rest of the group runs on.

Ventures. House of Starts is the venture builder, running since 2022. Eleven hundred plus founders in the network, nine active ventures, and a direct pipeline into EightQor Capital’s deal flow.

Foundation. The Enrise Social Foundation handles structural philanthropy, the governance of human infrastructure, outside my own balance sheet.

The UV Almanac, the site you are reading this on, is where the thinking behind all four gets published, tested, and refined in public.

I also hold a Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence and Strategic Innovation, honoris causa, from the London School of Business & Science. I do not use the title. The work in front of you should carry more weight than the letters behind my name.

One holding layer sits above EightQor. It stays out of public view by design. What matters to you is what you can see, use, and hold me accountable to: EightQor, Upsquare, House of Starts, the Almanac.

IV. THE DISCIPLINE

Before I built companies, I played chess at the national level.

Chess does not reward talent by itself. It punishes an unclear plan faster than almost anything else a teenager can practice. I learned to think in branches, in sequences, in consequences three moves out, before I learned to think in quarterly targets.

I train Wing Chun. Not for the aesthetics of martial arts. For the structure underneath it. Centerline. Economy of motion. No strike thrown that does not need to land.

Both disciplines taught the same lesson from different directions. Control what is structural, and the outcome takes care of itself. Every framework I have built since is a variation on that one sentence.

I am married. Deliberately, not by accident. The same principle applies at home.

V. THE FRAMEWORK

I think in two systems, and I use both to make decisions with money and time attached, not to make good content.

MSDx, Mindset, Skillset, Drive, Execution, is how I diagnose whether a person, a team, or a venture is actually ready to perform, or just looks ready on paper.

DSRP, Distinctions, Systems, Relationships, Perspectives, is how I think about structure itself. How anything, a business, a market, a decision, is built from parts and the relationships between those parts.

Most people optimize inside a system they never examined. I spend more time examining the system than optimizing inside it. That is the actual difference between an Architect and everyone renting space in someone else’s structure.

VI. WHAT I BELIEVE

A few positions do not move, regardless of market conditions.

Freedom over drift. The purpose of capital is autonomy, not display.

Systems over struggle. Good architecture beats repeated effort every time the two compete.

Compounding over intensity. I care about assets, ideas, and relationships that get stronger with time left alone, not ones that need constant intervention to survive.

Clarity over noise. The goal was never more information. The goal is a better signal.

VII. THE STATION

I write this from the Fortress, Dubai, where I relocated in August 2025.

Location is not incidental to how I think. Jurisdiction, timezone, and proximity to capital shape strategy as much as any spreadsheet does. The Fortress is the current base. The Sanctuary in Europe and the Roots in India remain part of the same operating geography. The thinking travels wherever I do. The frameworks do not change with the timezone.

VIII. HOW TO USE THIS

If you want the short version, who I am, what I run, how to reach me, start at uv.bio.

If you want the long-form thinking, stay on the Almanac or go deeper in the Journal. The Almanac runs across systems thinking, entrepreneurship, founder evolution, capital and compounding, and identity, timing, and agency.

If you want the daily aphorisms, follow the Stream.

If you want to talk business, EightQor, Upsquare, or House of Starts, the links live on uv.bio.

I do not perform access. I build in public instead. Most of what is on this site is me holding that line in writing, so I cannot quietly drop it later.

The Architect builds the frame. The Renter waits for one to be built for them.
